My 3 Favorite Muscle Pills (And It’s Not What You Think)

This article is going to save you a lot of money. I don’t know about you, but when I first started getting into muscle building, I was pretty excited to go to the supplement store. It was like being a kid in a candy shop. The supplement industry is set up to evoke feelings of emotion that persuade you to buy their product. This is all done with fancy names, crazy packaging, and a bunch of scientific jargon that you probably don’t understand, but it sure “sounds cool” and beneficial to your muscle gains.

Just about anyone who starts working out falls into this trap when they walk into the supplement store. You end up buying products just because of the name and/or packaging. Now I am not against the supplement industry at all, and I feel that there are some highly effective muscle-building supplements that all of you guys should be taking for increased gains. My only problem is that these awesome muscle-building supplements are lost in the crowd of overhyped and “fancy-packaged” supplements that are typically nothing more than a myriad of non-science-backed ingredients and proprietary blends.

I want to dive right into my 3 favorite muscle pills. These are proven and effective muscle-building pills that you can incorporate into your daily regimen immediately. These 3 pills are all found in a lot of the overpriced and expensive products, such as pre-workout powders, post-workout formulas, intra-workout and recovery products, etc. The best part is that if you buy these 3 muscle pills individually, you will save a ton of money because you are buying the pure form of the only ingredient that actually works. Save your money and stay away from the latest fad supplement. Stick with these 3 proven muscle pills and you will see some tremendous gains in the gym, and gains in your wallet!

Muscle-Building Pill #1 – BCAA

According to Webmd.com, “Branched-chain amino acids stimulate the building of protein in muscles and possibly reduce muscle breakdown.” It has been shown that people who are on a lower calorie diet should supplement with BCAAs to prevent muscle breakdown and initiate protein synthesis. BCAAs are one of the few proven muscle supplements that are actually “needed” by your body when you are training intensely.

If you are lifting weights and training frequently in the gym, it is also really important to supplement with BCAAs to prevent protein and muscle breakdown. This is why most fitness experts say that BCAAs are the most important muscle growth pills you can supplement with. If you go to the gym and put your body through vigorous exercise, you are actually in a short-term catabolic state. This means that your body is entering a “muscle-wasting” state, which is the opposite of what you want.

One of the best investments you can make to prevent muscle breakdown is taking BCAA pills before, during, and after your workout. Giving your body a constant supply of the most important muscle-building amino acids is vital for your muscle-building progress.

L-arginine is converted in the body to a substance called “nitric oxide,” which causes blood vessels to open more fully, resulting in increased blood flow.  Having more nitric oxide in your bloodstream will help deliver more oxygen and nutrients to your hard-working muscles, which will aid them in recovery and nutrient uptake.

I usually take 1-2 grams of L-arginine in my pre-workout drink for this very reason, and I also supplement with it for breakfast and at night to increase my body’s nitric oxide levels. L-arginine is a non-essential amino acid that is one of the best supplements for muscle growth.

According to Webmd.com, “L-arginine also stimulates the release of growth hormone,” which we have discussed in great detail in many of our videos and articles as one of the most important anabolic hormones in your body.
