<p>In this video I talk about the best way to gain weight. Some guys ask the question, &#8220;What is the <a href="http://www.weightgainnetwork.com/weight-gain-programs/best-way-to-gain-weight.php">best way to gain weight</a>, is there a certain supplement I should take&#8230; is there a certain food I should eat&#8230;?</p>
<p>And you can ask these questions independently and get an answer&#8230; but the truth is, I always like to tell people, it&#8217;s a combination of things. There&#8217;s no one supplement that you&#8217;re going to take &#8211; or even a combination of supplements that&#8217;s just going to magically help you gain weight.</p>
<p>There&#8217;s no one food that&#8217;s going to make you gain weight either.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s going to be a combination your diet, your workout program, and a lot of other little things that go in between. So it really is a combination of things that work synergistically together that help your body put on muscle mass.</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s talk about some of those things. So obviously you&#8217;re going to need to hit the gym. If you want to gain weight, gaining weight means gaining muscle mass, and that means lifting heavy weights.</p>
<p>Specifically you want to do compound exercises that involve more than one muscle group. So things like the bench press, squats, stiff legged deadliest, barbell rows, things like that &#8211; that involve more than one muscle group is going to stimulate a lot of muscle fiber, increase growth hormone, testosterone, and get your hormones really pumping.</p>
<p>So that&#8217;s big tip number one, if you&#8217;re not already using compound lifts in the gym, focus mostly on compound lifts and it&#8217;ll play a big part in helping you gain weight.</p>
<p>Number two is going to be your diet. Obviously everyone is different. Everyone has a different metabolism, resting metabolic rate, and all these things, so if you&#8217;re a skinny guy (which I&#8217;m assuming you are if you&#8217;re watching this video) then a good starting point with your diet is to take your bodyweight times twenty&#8230; And whatever you get, that&#8217;s how many calories per day you should start eating.</p>
<p>Now that&#8217;s not an exact science, it&#8217;s just a good starting point. If you take your bodyweight x 20 whatever number you get, say it&#8217;s 3,000 &#8211; then you&#8217;re going to eat 3,000 calories per day.</p>
<p>Start there. Start doing the compound exercises, start eating enough calories, and weigh yourself a week later and see if you&#8217;ve made any gains. And if you haven&#8217;t then you need to bump up your calories, or tweak your workout&#8230; maybe you&#8217;re not really doing the workouts you&#8217;re supposed to be doing&#8230;</p>
<p>One more thing I want to let you know about the workouts is that more is not always better. Some people believe that the more workouts you get in the more muscle you&#8217;re going to grow&#8230; Well that&#8217;s wrong. That&#8217;s not always the case. Guys who are on steroids can go in the gym 6 days a week for 2 hours at a time, or whatever they do, and they can get away with that.</p>
<p>&#8230;But for naturally skinny guys with average genetics or below average genetics, you&#8217;re going to want to start working out 3 days a week tops.</p>
<p>Splitting up your workout into 3 days is the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4jNlf-LAjQ">best way to gain weight</a>. Stop trying to work out 5 days a week.</p>

<p>I&#8217;m here to tell you I was in the exact same position as you not too long ago, I was a skinny guy and I was trying everything to gain weight and build muscle but it just wasn&#8217;t happening.</p>
<p>But once I started using some of the techniques I&#8217;m going to tell you about in this video I was able to <a href="http://www.WeightGainBlueprint.com/buildmuscle">gain 37 pounds of muscle</a>.</p>
<p>So one of the big mistakes most guys make when they&#8217;re first getting started and trying to build muscle is that they work out too often. They&#8217;re trying to work out almost every day. Most people, when they go to the gym, think that more is better.</p>
<p>The more I work out the better results I&#8217;ll get, right? If I work out 3 days a week, my results won&#8217;t come as quickly as they would if I worked out 6 days a week, right?</p>
<p>Well it&#8217;s counter intuitive but that&#8217;s actually not the case. You would actually probably grow faster if you lowered your workout frequency and you just tried working out 3 days a week instead.</p>
<p>The reason why is because your muscles don&#8217;t grow when you&#8217;re in the gym. They grow outside of the gym when you&#8217;re resting. So personally I like to do Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays. What that does is it gives you a day of rest between each of your workouts so that your muscles can grow and repair.</p>
<p>This is a HUGE thing, and a lot of people don&#8217;t believe me when I first tell them about this. it almost doesn&#8217;t make sense, but it&#8217;s just how your body works. You&#8217;ve got to give it time to rest and grow.</p>

<p>The main goal of your post work out meal is to prevent muscle breakdown, or muscle catabolism after your workout and to get your body back into an anabolic muscle building state.</p>
<p>One good thing to include in your <strong>post workout meal</strong> is a fast absorbing protein source. You don&#8217;t want to eat things like casein protein, or cottage cheese, or anything that&#8217;s going to absorb very slowly. You want something like tilapia, or salmon. Something that&#8217;s going to get into your blood stream faster.</p>
<p>So lets just cover the basics: You need protein and you need carbs. Personally I keep fat sources out of my post workout meal completely because it&#8217;s going to slow down the absorption rate of all the other nutrients in your body.</p>
<p>For your <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54eXftkBnII">post workout meal</a> you want to get nutrients into your blood stream as quickly as possible. So you&#8217;d do okay if you just cut fat out of this meal completely. So a good meal for me is rice (brown or white) and some kind of fish like salmon, or chicken is okay too.</p>
<p>So those are my tips for your <em>post workout meal</em>. Cut out the fat. Get a good source of protein that&#8217;s fast absorbing, and lots and lots of carbs.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s crazy that these things can even be sold and that these companies can get away with making these claims. I think the reason they can is because they&#8217;re not regulated by the FDA.</p>
<p>So if you look at what the ingredients are in these <strong>weight gain pills</strong> (like &#8220;Weight Gain Plus&#8221;) you&#8217;d be shocked. Most of these <a href="http://www.weightgainnetwork.com/weight-gain-supplements/weight-gain-pills.php">weight gain pills</a> have similar ingredients as a multi-vitamin. There&#8217;s nothing in there that&#8217;s magically going to help you gain weight or build muscle, it&#8217;s crazy.</p>
<p>If you want to gain weight, here&#8217;s what you need to do. You need to get on a specific weight training and diet program that&#8217;s going to make you bulk up.</p>
<p>The good news is, I&#8217;ve figured out how to gain weight. Trust me I&#8217;ve looked into the <em>weight gain pills</em>, weight gain powders, and other weight gain supplements when I was first searching for ways to gain weight.</p>

<p>Now before I go into some of these I just want to preface this by saying that if you plan on just taking supplements and you&#8217;re not working out and you don&#8217;t have a specific diet that you&#8217;re following, and a specific <a href="http://www.weightgainnetwork.com/weight-gain-programs/">weight gain or muscle building program</a> that you&#8217;re following, then these tips really aren&#8217;t going to help you.</p>
<p>Supplements are not going to do all the work for you. So I just want to let you know that there&#8217;s no supplement out there that you can take that&#8217;s just magically going to help you gain weight and build muscle mass without diet and exercise.</p>
<p>So with that said, some of the good supplements that you can take that will give you an edge, assuming your diet and weight training are in order, are:</p>
<p><strong>Creatine</strong> &#8211; When you start taking creatine you&#8217;re going to put on 5 pounds pretty quickly. But most of it is going to be water weight. But creatine is actually going to help you lift more weight in the gym, and help you pump out more reps.</p>
<p>Basically that translates into more strength, more stamina, more weight lifted, and you can do more overall work in the gym to put it simply. So creatine is awesome, it works and it&#8217;s a legitimate supplement.</p>
<p><strong>Glutamine</strong> &#8211; Glutamine is going to support your immune system and it has also been shown to increase growth hormone. If you find yourself getting sick a lot (because you&#8217;re working out a lot, and that does take it&#8217;s toll on your body and some guys find that they get sick a lot when they hit the gym pretty hard) glutamine can help with that, and also like I said, it&#8217;s been shown to increase growth hormone levels and help prevent muscle catabolism.</p>
<p>So there&#8217;s two awesome supplements right there to get you started. <p>I get a lot of emails from people telling me, &#8220;<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlFnv5SKkOY">I want to gain weight</a>! What the heck do I have to do to gain weight&#8230;?&#8221;</p>
<p>Well it comes down to 3 different things:</p>
<p>-Weight Training<br />
-Dieting<br />
-Rest</p>
<p>You could throw some supplements in there but it&#8217;s not 100% necessary&#8230; Which is ironic because the first question a lot of guys ask me is, &#8220;I want to gain weight, what kind of supplements do I need to take?&#8221;</p>
<p>And I always tell them that&#8217;s the wrong question to be asking.</p>
<p>Now don&#8217;t get me wrong, there ARE some good supplements that will help you gain weight. But supplements alone aren&#8217;t going to do the hard work for you.</p>
<p>So there&#8217;s no getting around the fact that you have to go to the gym, you need to lift heavy weights, and you have to know exactly what you need to eat&#8230;</p>
<p>It&#8217;s such a big topic, it&#8217;s impossible to tell you everything you need to know in this one YouTube video.</p>

<p>Some ways to gain weight that DON&#8217;T work are:</p>

-Weight gain pills<br />
-Testosterone boosters<br />

<p>How do I know? Well, I&#8217;ve tried all these things and they don&#8217;t work. I started off a lot like you &#8211; looking for different ways to gain weight and not really knowing what works and what doesn&#8217;t work.</p>
<p>I&#8217;d like to save you a lot of time today and let you know it&#8217;s not just one thing that&#8217;s going to help you gain weight. But rather, it&#8217;s a combination of things.</p>
<p>So like I said, it&#8217;s going to be a combination of your diet, weight training, and rest&#8230; and a bunch of little details in-between.</p>
<p>When I first started looking for ways to gain weight, there was no plan laid out for me that I could just take and get started. It seems like everyone in America is trying to LOSE weight, not gain it. So I found myself short on reliable resources that could give me real methods that actually work to gain weight and build muscle.</p>

<p>The number 1 thing you need to get right if you&#8217;re trying to gain muscle mass and bulk up is your <a href="http://www.weightgainnetwork.com/weight-gain-diets/">weight gain diet</a>. It&#8217;s very easy to THINK that you&#8217;re &#8220;eating alot of food&#8221; when you&#8217;re really not eating as much as you need to make gains.</p>
<p>This is a problem I ran into when I first started trying to gain weight. I said to myself, &#8220;I eat all the time and I eat a lot of food, why can&#8217;t I gain weight?&#8221; Well as it turns out once you actually make a list of what you ate that day, and add up all the calories, you&#8217;ll find that you probably aren&#8217;t eating as much as you think you are.</p>
<p><strong>So how do you know if you&#8217;re eating enough?</strong> Take 20x your body weight in calories. That&#8217;s how many calories per day you should start consuming. Of course there&#8217;s much more to your weight gain diet than simply counting calories.
